The Start- A Quilt Project

So, after much talky talky and no action, my daughter and I have FINALLY decided on a quilt fabric. We also decided on a style as well and while it's not the one I wanted, it's still pretty cool.

First, the fabric.
This is always the juicy part isn't it? I LOVE fabric shopping and I can't help it if I spend a little too much at fabric stores. I received a Groupon for Whipstitch here in Atlanta and so off I went to thier Etsy store to choose out some fabrics!

Here is what we chose:

Recognize those? Amy Butler, Soul Blossom. I've always loved these fabrics, and I am going to combine them with Kona's White and make tube quilt blocks with them.
If you are not familiar with tube quilting, here is a video for you to watch:

This is a new technique to me but I LOVE the look. Want to see what it should end up looking like pattern wise? Look how beautiful it ends up looking

I plan to back it with Amy Butlers Laurel Dots but that will be a ways out at this point! So stay tuned as you'll see the progress of Emma's Quilt! (Or it may get renamed as Karen's Quilt if I decide parting with it isn't going to happen!)

Changes

Oh gracious me.

I have not been a diligent blogger, as I have been under a pile of sewing that seems to keep me busier then I anticipated! This is a great thing, but I find myself always interacting on my Facebook page and not here on my little blog. I really need to be here more, and I will be, but for now I need to get a big order out the door. I'm busy creating custom gift totes for Cara Miller who is the Cricut Guru!! You scrapbooking types should check her out! She does these really great Scrapbooking Cruises and that's what I'm making these cute little totes for!

Do you know what brings me the most joy? Teaching Art. I volunteer at my daughters school teaching art to the students there on a bi-weekly basis. Seeing the joy on their faces when they realize that they can create something so wonderful with their hands brings me such a great sense of accomplishment! I've started creating items for their little art adventures to inspire and encourage creative growth. I feel good when I'm creating for them and that feeling is where I need to be.

In the next few months I will be morphing into a new business front and while I'll still be doing cute little hair accessories for girls, I will be offering all kinds of sewn items for ALL children, and you as well!! My specialty will remain children though! You'll see the blog change, my name change and the content that I post about will also change, too!!

When it's all done, we'll have a fabulous giveaway! Exciting!! So hang on tight, because here we grow!!

Something New!

Remember me telling you about how much I love the gift I bought for my daughter from the fabulous Amy Dunn? Well, she went and opened up a fabric store! I am so excited for her! Her taste in fabric is a wonderful fresh breath of air and if you take a moment to converse with her beyond the purchaser-seller relationship, you'll find a good source of information, a sweet personality, and a genuine friend. You'll find her store here:
